Main Purpose of Role:
To support the Stud Manager in effectively managing the livestock, a livestock team and livestock facilities to ensure that the production of the Cogent product for both UK and International Sales and Custom Sorting is in line with the business requirements and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working closely with the Livestock Manager, take a lead on decision making and organising the daily workflow, to ensure the department fulfils business objectives for semen collection targets.
- Provide motivation and support to the team in their individual roles in order to maximise their performance and development in order to deliver the departments objectives.
- Working with the stud manager and production unit leadership team to maintain and develop the strict biosecurity boundaries and protocols to ensure the health of the livestock and the health status of the stud.
- Ensure that CBL sires dayto day care is to the highest standard to maintain a clean, healthy and safe environment for good health and breeding soundness.
- To work closely with the Livestock Administrator to ensure efficient records of individual livestock movements, treatments and examination records are kept in line with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all equipment, machinery and tools are maintained fit for purpose and safe to use. Perform timely checks over the livestock infrastructure organising any repairs or improvements as required.
- To ensure H&S responsibilities are fulfilled both by yourself and your team.
Essential Skills and Attributes:
- Must have experience of Livestock and/or Management
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organisational skills to give the team direction.
- Computer literate
Desirable Skills
- Bobcat/Tractor licences or experience – Full training can be provided.
- Foot trimming
- Livestock Transportation
Additional Information:
- Must hold a full driving license.
- Must be prepared to work flexibly, covering evenings and weekend on rota basis
